Judith Gruber is hoofddocent aan de Faculteit Theologie en Religiewetenschappen van de KU Leuven en verantwoordelijke van het Centrum voor Bevrijdingstheologieën. Ze zal het hebben over:

The growing theological awareness of ecclesial diversity has given rise to a body of research that turns to ethnographic approaches as a resource for theology. This contribution to the VVTh webinar will focus on the point of transition between empirical research to theological reflection and argues that we can identify an ongoing “desire for transendence” (Yountae) in approaches that turn to an investigation of social practices as a starting point of theological construction but ultimately situate God-talk outside the messiness of reality. In conversation with a concrete ethnographic-theological case study, it will show that such approaches reinscribe the binary logic of colonial theology, and argue for more radical reconfigurations of theology that may have transformative effects.
